An Alchemical Sonnet by Santinelli

Odi, e impara. In un sol corpo intatto
I principii dell'Or posti ha Natura,

Oh gran Lavoro!
Vile è 'l raggio del Sol, ch'è fuggitivo,
Fisso stringilo in polve, ed è Thesoro

Listen, and learn. In a unique intact body
Nature posed the principles of Gold, hidden
from the eyes, and more hidden from touch
under an escremental darkened bark.

Art then, what does she do? This impure
Matterbrings to her hand, and with an abstract
Fire from her bowels so much purifies, that makes
gold in potentia to come out in actu.

Gold, but not vulgar. Gold, which is not
deprived of an animating Spirit, a Gold,
which brings back dead gold to life.

It extract the ray from Shadow. Oh great Work!
The ray of Sun is vile, for it is fleeting,
fix it, press it to powder, and will be Treasure.

Excalibur

That blessed action
that breaks the moment,

that cleaves the doubts,

that beheads the buzz
of evil tongues,

That blessed action
that warms the hearts,

that wipes the tears,

that splits in a stroke

the white from the black ,

the night from the day,

the fact from the dream,

That blessed action
that breaks,

enchanted sword,

the rock of wait,

lies in the girdle,
sealed…

Sacrifice

Sacrifice is a law.

Nothing real can be accomplished without sacrifices.

Sacrum facere, making sacred, is the price to be paid.

Do not value anything which was achieved without sacrifices, because it is not real.

Sacrifice is the Seal.

A Man

This song is dedicated to all women,

condemned to be mothers and

babysitters of their companions,

who still dream that one day

they will be held by a MAN.

On Work and Rest

ON WORK AND REST
When you work, WORK.
When you rest, REST.
Everything in the middle
is time wasted,
shameful for man.
Also:
the more you Work,
the more you can Rest.

The more you can Rest,
the more you can Work
Work and Rest are
the Yin-Yang
of Conscious Man.

On Yes & No

My burning Question was: how can the Yes prevail over the No?
I received this Answer:
You should know that the Yes comes first.
The No cannot exist by itself, the No is always a No standing right in front of its Yes.
Yet, the Yes which comes before the No, knows itself not.
Therefore The Eternal allowed No to rise.
Now they stand, eternally, one in front of the other,
like a Male and a Female.
If the Yes say yes,
No replies no.
Pain and grief follow.
And now the answer to your question, thou son of man:
If Yes says no to No, Yes loses and dies.
Then, grief-stricken, No dies as well, because the No need the Yes, to be.
But: if the Yes tells yes to No, standing its ground, if the Yes is ample enough to embrace the No,
Yes wins. No then dies, but is born again, within a new Yes, which is a Yes carrying a No, as a Man embracing his Wife.
Son of man, hearken to the Story of Yes and No, keep it in your heart, and live.

The Dancer and The Voice

We have talked enough, Woman, You and I, You and I

Why talking when You can dance ?

Why talking when I can sing?

Let My Voice be the magic thread over the abyss

Let Your Foot balance over that magic thread.

My Voice and Your Foot are One

A Prayer

There is an Appointed Time for Prayer.

This is a Prayer for the Night Of The World,

when dark spirits prowl on the souls of men:

*******************************

Qul 'A`ūdhu Birabbi An-Nāsi

Say: I seek refuge with the Lord and Cherisher of Mankind,

Maliki An-Nāsi

The King (or Ruler) of Mankind,

'Ilahi An-Nāsi

The God (for judge) of Mankind,

Min Sharri Al-Waswāsi Al-Khannāsi

From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper)

Al-Ladhī Yuwaswisu Fī Şudūri An-Nāsi

(The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind,-

Mina Al-Jinnati Wa An-Nāsi

Among Jinns and among men.

***********************************

PS Dr. Mistero thanks his Fellow Seeker, Maria, for reminding him of Surah 114 when it was needed.

Dryness

What is dryness? It was said that Earth is cold and dry, Fire dry and hot.

Embrace then Earth and Fire in a single grasp, and you will have dryness.

Dryness is the domain of Seth, it is the Desert.

Water has left the Earth, calcinated by the patient heat.

In the Desert, only the fiery Sun and the Dry Earth.

It is a trial, a silence, a pause.

At the end of forty days of Dryness

a new unspeakable Life

Humid Earth

The Earth is good, it is the Matrix, but if you want to obtain the Fixed Salt, you must dry it first. True Earth is dry and cold, humidity must be lured out, patiently, and carefully preserved.
Dry your Earth, keep the Blessed Water, and then seek the Fire of the Earth, the Dryness common to Earth and Fire.
Then, and only then, the King and his Queen are ready...

The Right Choice

You disperse the power of your intent, wishing and wishing not, hesitating, indecisive, vacillating, like a giant with clay feet.

Shed light resolutely on the matters at hand, and DECIDE. Use the mighty axe of your will and separate the yes from the no.

Do not fear error: the only real sin lies in hesitation

Breathing Fire

"the wise seeker must safeguard his breath from heedlessness, coming in and going out, thereby keeping his heart always in the Divine Presence; and he must revive his breath with worship and servitude and dispatch this worship to His Lord full of life, for every breath which is inhaled and exhaled with Presence is alive and connected with the Divine Presence. Every breath inhaled and exhaled with heedlessness is dead, disconnected from the Divine Presence."

You breath in air, but fire goes in too.
A magic substance that gives life and power.
If you lack attention,
you will breath this precious fire out.
Strive to keep it in, gently but firmly.
Fill yourself with the fire inside the air,
by merging attention and breathing.
Let the fire inside the air
accumulate in your body,
slowly,
day
after
day.
Do not let one breath be wasted.

Attention in Breathing
This is the main key

The Ballad of the Four Queens

Once upon a time,
long long ago,
there was only one Queen
surrounding Her King
from every direction
she had no color,
she had no form

He called Her
My Endless Power
She called Him
My Shining Eye

Love was their Law

Then, much later,
the Queen split in two
like a hatching egg:
two Queens there were
one Black
one Red
at the opposite sides
of the world
two twin sisters
outwardly enemies
inwardly friends
facing two Kings

Much time passed
(or perhaps not )
each Queen
filled to the brim
split in two:
two seeds each

Hearts & Diamonds
Club & Spades

each on one side
of the vast world
eternally revolving
in the magical wheel
like a snake
eating its tail

Four Queens
Four Kings
and no one
in the Center

Then, after aeons
of mad play
the Kings turned
into Knaves
serving their Queens

and the Story began...

The Wheel of Fortune

Steadiness is an illusion.
Things always change.
They move up, or down.
Learn to hearken
to the sound of the Wheel.
You cannot stop it.
Move on.

Ouroboros

A Snake eating its own tail.

Does he know it?

I think not.

The beginning does not remember
the end,
yet the end is all in the beginning,
and the beginning in the end.

Let the beginning know the end
the end know the beginning.

Let each end be the beginning,
each beginning to be the end.

Kill the gap between the two.

Cut the Ouroboros,
go beyond the insanity of Time,

be free at last.

The Seed and the Fruit

How can anything be multiplied without a seed?
Hearken what the Sages tell you.
You cannot go beyond that.
The Work is simply to identify the proper seed, and let it grow.
Each seed its own fruit.
Why forcing the hand of Nature? You can simply be a good farmer in Her lands, help Her gently to bring the seed to fructify.
Anything else I call violence.
The Work is this: to learn the Law that links the Seed to the Fruit.

Aqua Regia

A true alchemist must know the function of corrosive waters, particularly Aqua Regia

Aqua Regia dissolves gold, thereby separating it from impurities. Later, one can recover the metal by precipitating the solution.

Do you know how to use Aqua Regia without burning yourself?
Do you know where to find it and how to apply it?

Use the corrosive waters with utmost delicacy, and do not complain if you have burnt your hands:

it will be your own fault.

Gray Wolf

Sometimes I feel like a wolf.
A big, strong, free gray wolf.
Sometimes I am a wolf.

Look at his eyes:
masculine, aren't they?
Yet, they are a bit sad.
And why not being sad?
Sadness is deep and sweet.

To be a gray wolf is this,
to be powerful,
independent,
absolutely free,
yet never afraid
of being sad
and howl
alone
during
the
long,
starry
nights
at
the
distant
moon.

Motorbikes

A bike is a lump of metal, yet is made of fire.
You jump on its saddle, you feel the Flame.

Flame of Freedom,
Flame of Power.

Energy,
Dynamism,
Life.

Fire is good.

But,
never
ever
forget
it also
burns.

When Lead Transpires

Lead is the coarsest amidst the traditional seven metals of Western Alchemy.

Its color is grey, and it conveys la pesanteur, a grey heaviness of the soul.

Its planet Old Saturn, bestower of dark melancholy.

Lead sings its dumb song in a baritone key.

Yet, it is written that thou shalt seek the Spirit of Metals under the Seal Of Saturn.

You will let lead transpire, till its precious sap comes out of its grayish grave.

But how?

Similia similibus solvantur.

Thou shalt meet lead with utmost kindness, wash it with amorous tears, till it sweats drops of love.
